The dream of living a “dot com” lifestyle is something that many of us strive for. Seeing stories of people making millions of dollars online and selling apps for billions is enough to inspire anyone!

Unfortunately stories like these are far and few. The real concept of living a dot com lifestyle and having your own business is putting in 80 hour work weeks and dedicating your life to your passion — in this case, your business!

With all of the hard work, dedication and endless hours comes the potential end result of enjoying the many benefits of running your own business. With all of the glory also comes the weight, responsibilities and burdens of running your own business, but at the end of the day the success is all yours as well.

Michael Bayer is the producer and director of Living Dot Com, a documentary that gives an intimate look into the lives of internet entrepreneurs — including myself!

While many people visit our blogs and read about us online, they are only seeing one side of the picture. In this documentary you will get to meet some of the top entrepreneurs in our space, how they got to where they are today and what made them take the leap to become their own boss. The focus of this documentary is also on the disappearing job market and how individuals are seizing the opportunity to become their own boss and make sure they aren’t selectively outsourced by robots, software and other means of automation.

This documentary and interview is quite personal because our house was flooded from Super Storm Sandy during the filming process. As a result of the flood we were out of our home for roughly 9 months, which also meant not having my home office. The reconstruction of the house became a second job in itself.
