My Journey: Creating a Personal Brand and Business

With over two decades of online experience, my expertise and business model has evolve quite a bit over the years. Way back in the mid-to-late 90s, I discovered the power of affiliate marketing and went on to generate six-figures in commissions with the Amazon Partner Program (back when they only sold books and DVDs!)

During this time, the internet was still in it’s infancy and the idea of affiliate marketing and getting paid a commission to deliver a lead or action was just gaining traction. Even better, I was only a sophomore in high school at this time, so I was able to focus heavily on getting my business up and absorbing as much information as well.

In 2007, I took the leap and launched first blog at ZacJohnson.com — which would be focused on building my personal and business brand. This was a new adventure and my introduction to WordPress, which would also soon change the internet forever. Before using WordPress, I was manually coding and creating all of my site from scratch.

This decision was a game-changer. I established myself as an authority in blogging and affiliate marketing, leading to incredible opportunities, including world travel and speaking engagements.

In the digital era, the internet empowers anyone to turn their passion into an online business and potentially become an “internet celebrity.” This is even more true with the likes of Instagram and TikTok, thus making it easy for anyone to go viral with just a short video clip or photo.

No matter the method, whether it be blogging, teaching or through social media, by consistently delivering valuable content, I gained recognition and attention from numerous conferences, media outlets and experts in the industry. I was even featured in a documentary titled “The Living Dot Com”, which had a red carpet premier in Hollywood, CA.

All of this became possible because I took the leap to start my blog and put myself out there.

Connecting with Industry Experts and Famous Celebrities

In a world where fame, fortune and interest celebrity status is something so many people are interested in, one of the best ways to connect and integrate with such audiences is to always provide value and not looking for personal gain.

The original pathway to such outlets was through television, movies and print magazines. Then, it was all about blogging, social media platforms like MySpace and Facebook, and most recently — podcasting, TikTok and Instagram.

By taking advantage of any of these platforms, anyone now has the opportunity to not just connect with industry experts and famous people from around the world — but to also potentially become “internet famous” in the process.

In my case, blogging was the outlet that opened the most doors when it came to meeting some of the biggest celebrities and company founders, entrepreneurs, and speakers globally at various events.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to connected with thousands of blog readers, brand partners and also networking with remarkable celebrities, athletes, and renowned entrepreneurs, including Hulk Hogan, Mark Cuban, Stan Lee, and many more.

Mastering the Art of Making Money Online

When it comes to making money online or launching a business or brand of your own, everyone will have a different process — along with the results they end up seeing. In my case, it’s important to remember that my journey is already more than two decades in the works.

However, this doesn’t mean that you should be discouraged or think that you are too late to the game. The internet is always changing, and with those changes, comes new opportunity every single day. As long as you have the dedication and passion to put in the work, there is no reason why you can’t achieve success of your own.
